Death came often to those that tried to tame the vast western US. Settlers carried many traditions as they tried to stake their claim to a hostile land.
Traditions were carried from home, amongst them the creation of ornate iron crosses to mark settlers graves, strong enough to withstand even the most violent winds and storms.
